Meet Robert

Robert was born in El Paso, Texas in 1979 and moved to Little Rock with his family in 1985.  He graduated from Catholic High School as salutatorian in 1997, Duke University in 2001 with a B.A. in Economics.

After college, he returned to Arkansas to work for Wal-Mart in the Sam’s Club Division as Finance Manager, and later for Crews and Associates in Special Projects and Fixed Income Sales and Trading.

On July 19, 2003, he met his wife, Mary, on a blind date at a concert in Little Rock, and they have been together ever since, marrying in 2005. They were blessed with two children, Lucy in 2011, and Eli in 2013. Boxley, their beloved golden doodle, came along in 2022.

Law Career

Robert attended the University of Arkansas’ William H. Bowen School of Law, graduating in 2007 with Honors.  While in Law School, he was a Member of the Law Review, and Vice-President of the Hispanic Law Students Association.

Robert started Tellez Law Firm PLLC in 2015 to better serve the community with a commitment to Compassion, Trust, and Excellence in legal services.

He was selected by his peers as a 2019 Super Lawyers Mid-South Rising Star, and was recognized as a Super Lawyer in Criminal Defense for the Mid-South in 2020, 2021, and 2022. In addition, Robert has been named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 in Arkansas for the past 7 years in a row.

In 2022, Robert was invited to be a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, which is a peer-selected honorary society of 3,500 of the best trial lawyers in America, an honor granted to less than one-half of one percent of practicing attorneys.

Running for Judge

Since 2009, Robert has had the opportunity to travel all across the state of Arkansas representing clients. Many of these clients are People of Color. Many of these clients are low income. Many of these clients do not speak English. As a fluent Spanish speaker, Robert can convey legal information and counsel in a language his clients understand, thus alleviating fear of the legal experience.

Robert’s clients need someone to advocate for them and help guide them through our complex legal system. This experience has helped shape his perspective that we have to continue working hard to make our legal system work as it should for everyone involved.

This requires us to see with empathy and compassion, in other words, to see the humanity of all those in the legal system. It is with this vision that Robert intends to make Little Rock District Court, 2nd Division an even better Court for the future.

This will require collaboration with the communities it serves in Pulaski and Perry Counties. This will require perseverance and a commitment to those principles on which our system of government is founded; Mercy and Justice, where the People Rule.

Robert decided to run for Judge because he has a strong commitment to fairness. He will listen to all those in his Court and treat people with respect. The election is a non-partisan race that takes place on March 5, 2024. To win this election, we aim to reach every registered voter in Pulaski and Perry counties.
